The Woman Who Walked in Sunshine

When I read the first book in the No. 1 Ladies Detective series, I was hooked. Great characters, local color and story line. 

As I moved through the series, I found some of the books less engaging. The last three I read, this one being the third of those, were really kind of disappointing - kind of like reading a rough draft maybe. Is the author in a hurry? 

I bought these last three and a fourth at the same time. Guess I’ll try the last I have and see if I’ll continue with the series. Hoping it’s better. 

In case you didn’t see it, the TV series from a while back was really great.

Handsome Man’s Deluxe Cafe

 This is the 15th book in the No. 1 Ladies’ series set in Botswana.

I have really enjoyed this series and the HBO videos based on it. The previous book was a disappointment; this one was a little better, but not as good as earlier books.

I hate to say it, but maybe the author has reached the end of the series and just won’t admit it. I do hope I’m wrong - I have the next two books waiting in my stack.

There is a story here, but the author just doesn’t flesh it out all that well. I will leave it at that.

The Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon

 This is number 14 in the series, the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. Amusing title. 

I have really enjoyed these books, but I had not read one in a while. I’m behind several it seems. Need to catch up. 

As some other reviewers have noted, this is not one of the better books in the series. I think it has been my least favorite; seemed like not much was going on. Still, it was ok. 

Mma Makutsi has a baby who Charlie thinks is wonderful, a mystery about an heir to a farm and a new business being ruined by allegations by an unknown person. Is Mma Makutsi’s nemesis Violet S involved? 

That gives you an idea of the story line. The mysteries are solved but the book ends before the follow through for some reason. 

Read it for continuity at least. I’m starting the next in the series today.
